The "unforeseen consequences" of the Northern Ireland protocol, and my 2019 letters in which such problems were foreseen
Regarding the supposedly unforeseen consequences * of the Northern Ireland protocol, below you will find references to:
1, A song video ๐ต "Bridge Over Doubled Border made 8th December 2019 based on lyrics I wrote October 2019 as soon as the dreadful Deal became apparent; the lyrics were published last year in "Brexit's a Musical Trick" #BrexitsAMusicalTrick
2. My letter ๐to the Guardian ๐ฐ 19th December 2019 foreseeing those unforeseen consequences
3. My blogpost ๐๐๐ which contains correspondence in Dec 2019, and May 2020 with my MP (compliant Tory) including a more extended letter highlighting the issues more fully
4. A reply in January 2020 ๐from the expiring Department for Exiting the European Union (DexEU) in which DexEU declared that they understood the complexity and would need widespread consultation, and would resolve problems via the Joint Committee.
The amnesia which the Government assumes we suffer is breath-taking. #IDontBegPardon They are busy telling us about all the weaknesses in the Deal ๐ฐthat they struck which Boris Johnson said no British PM could ever agree to. Te problem with this is that I thoroughly agree that it is an awful Deal, and may never be implemented as written - "a snowball's chance in hell" is how I described its chances for 2020/21 in the Guardian letter ๐ - and so I don't need to be convinced of this; but they, and particularly Boris Johnson, were the ๐คฉ people telling us ๐๐คจit was an "oven-ready Deal" .๐ฑ They obtained an election victory by claiming that. I suppose it could be called progress that they realise the weaknesses of the Deal. The EU may have greater or lesser degrees of rigour in insisting the terms be followed, but it's still a ridiculous burden to put on UK businesses on both sides of the๐ข๐ข Irish Sea, The election victory was obtained fraudulently๐ข and in any case the Government is unable to execute its flagship policy and should resign to make way for a more competent administration ⚖ that could humbly seek a Brexit extension and attempt a more professional approach MY MP has just written back to me (๐thank you) to say that he did not want to reopen the Brexit arguments of earlier years. Yet this was only a couple of days after he had voted to do exactly that, by not accepting the Withdrawal Agreement. Gaining Parliamentary consent does not change the illegality of the action. Conspiring to break the law is still illegal however many accomplices are conspiring with you. * The lengthiest Tory MP response ๐ that I've seen in response to complaints about the Internal Market Bill relies on the consequences of the Withdrawal Agreement being unforeseen. They were not unforeseen.. I foresaw them ,and highlighted one aspect in my letters๐๐, and the complications were acknowledged ๐by DexEU _____________ To support my work (all profits go to coronavirus charities), and grab a pre-publication bargain for CDs/USB ๐น๐ตand next book ๐๐๐, see "crowdfunder" on www.viewdelta.com The crowdfunder is to cover external costs only - I take no profit or salary.- (and get you a bargain), with all profits going 100% to coronavirus charities, currently the Disasters Emergency Committee. www.dec.org.uk
